CNC Board Makes Tough Cuts
PRINCE GEORGE – The Board of Governors for the College of New Caledonia made some tough decisions today regarding programming on February 28.
Due to a loss of approximately $7 million from declining enrolment of international students, the College has decided to cut three programs. The Community and School Support program and the Associate of Arts – Modern Classics were both cut unanimously due to declining enrolment.
The most controversial cancellation was the English Language program. The college cited a decrease of 13 students in the program and the availability of other organizations, such as the Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society, to provide English language programs as the rationale for this decision.
Vice-President of Student Affairs, Shelley Carter-Rose, assured that students currently enrolled in the program will continue with their education without interruption.
