Watch this video to see why our employees feel like they truly belong here: Metrie's Brand Purpose What You’ll Do The role is an individual contributor and an active member of the People & Culture (P&C) Team. The role is based out of our Calgary Manufacturing plant and is in office 5 days a week, 7:30am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility on hours based on the business needs in terms of employee related events. Our Calgary Manufacturing plant is a 24/7 state-of-the-art, 258 square foot facility. The primary focus for this role will be Calgary, however P&C assistance at our Edmonton plant will be required as per business needs. The People & Culture Generalist will work across all HR functions and facilitate HR programs primarily in the areas of engagement, talent development, onboarding, multiprovince compliance, performance management, diversity and inclusion, and HR systems. The People & Culture Generalist will leverage their knowledge of human resources, business knowledge and strong internal relationships, to achieve organizational, department and site-based goals, to enable strong performance and to drive exceptional employee experience. Responsibilities

  • Culture & Engagement: Support employee engagement initiatives, including surveys, feedback sessions, onboarding, and retention activities. Plan and facilitate team building and volunteering opportunities.
  • Employee Support & Investigations: Address inquiries from salaried and hourly employees, conduct investigations, and escalate complex issues as needed. Provide guidance on Canadian benefits and medical leave processes in collaboration with the Benefits Manager.
  • HR Reporting & Analytics: Generate and analyze HR reports, providing insights from dashboards, engagement surveys, and exit interviews to inform development and retention strategies.
  • Training & Development: Manage LinkedIn Learning licenses, support learning initiatives, and oversee annual workplace training. Track quarterly and annual review documents.
  • Compensation & Talent Planning: Assist with succession planning, Talent Talks, and annual compensation processes, including merit increases and market data analysis through surveys.
  • Project Management: Drive key HR projects and initiatives, supporting procedural improvements, training programs, and internal HR process enhancements
  • Employee Relations: Provide guidance to employees and leaders, directing them to HR resources and best practices for workplace interactions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business, or similar field or 3+ years’ experience as an HR Generalist or similar role, preferably with some experience in HR reporting and analytics.
  • Working knowledge of relevant of Canadian and Alberta specific employment regulations and laws related to People policies and practices.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment dealing with a large hourly non-union workforce
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to handles changing priorities and with individuals of all levels
  • Previous experience using good judgement in challenging situations and being comfortable navigating difficult situations.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience with ADP and SharePoint a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle high volumes of work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment while maintaining excellent delivery and quality performance. Proven track-record of responsiveness and meeting deadlines.
  • Politically savviness. Values diversity, inclusion, belonging and culturally sensitive, with a high degree of conscientiousness and proven ability to manage confidential information.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to handle changing priorities; effectively communicates with individuals at all levels and uses of good judgement in stressful situations.
  • Ability to resolve routine issues and problems; able to work effectively in ambiguity.
