Job DescriptionRESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS). Position Summary Department / Research Program: Pediatric Respiratory Medicine: Inflammometry to improve asthma trajectory Under The General Supervision Of The Principal Investigator And In Close Collaboration With The Pediatric Respiratory Physiology Laboratory Team, The Incumbent 75% Performs diagnostic procedures including laboratory diagnostic pulmonary function tests: spirometry, bronchial provocation, exhaled FeNO, blood test, in connection with the research protocol. Administers questionnaires associated with the research protocol. Performs the prescribed clinical diagnostic test in the event of refusal to participate in research. Participates in recording quality control activities. 15% Performs data transfer, analysis, reporting, data management and statistical entries. Participates in the quality control of the analysis. Ensures maintenance and inventory of necessary equipment and supplies. 10% Participates in the coordination of participants' appointments. Obtains written consent for participation in the research project. Performs all other related tasks related to the exercise of his duties at the request of his superior. General Duties
- Performs diagnostic procedures in accordance with hospital and department performance standards, protocol and professional practice standards of the OPIQ,
- Collects and verifies patient information, reviews history, physical information, prescriptions, doctor's orders and study protocol, completes and verifies all documentation, note allergies and medications prescribed to the patient ,
- Obtains clinical parameters including height, weight,
- Enters patient demographic data into appropriate software,
- Prepares, checks, interfaces or calibrates all diagnostic equipment, making necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation,
- In the event of a malfunction of diagnostic equipment, contact the assistant head of the pulmonary function laboratory and/or the principal investigator ,
- Follows procedural protocols to ensure appropriate data collection ,
- Administers questionnaires associated with the research protocol ,
- Performs daily and periodic quality control calibrations prescribed by the manufacturer (ATS standard) ,
- Explains test and post-test procedures and technique to the patient and their family, “coaching” to ensure a good result,
- Document the quality of the patient's technique, e.g. reproducibility, effort, to inform the validity of test results and facilitate physician interpretation,
- At the end of testing, cleans all equipment, transfers physiological data into software, performs analyses, prepares preliminary reports and, where applicable,
- Communicates urgent results to the clinical team and pulmonologist on duty,
- Performs sanitization of equipment ,
- Follows applicable hospital policies and procedures, including patient screening, pre-test instructions, infection prevention and control, etc. Attends research team meetings as needed ,
- Performs other tasks assigned by the principal investigator.

- Experience in pulmonary function an asset,
- Experience in pediatrics an asset,
- French and English spoken and written to communicate with patients and staff,

- Able to work independently without supervision.
